Material characteristics:
Battery grade three cobalt tetroxide, black or gray black powder. Bulk density 0.5-1.5g/cm³, true density 2.0-3.0g/cm³. It is the product of cobalt monoxide and cobalt trioxide. It is easy to absorb water in exposed air, but does not generate hydrate. The material is loose and powdery, with general fluidity. The water content before drying is generally about 15%, and the water content of the product after drying is about 0.5.
Special drying process:
Cobalt tetroxide drying has the following characteristics and requirements: loose materials, general mobility; low energy consumption, uniform heating of materials, good operating environment, one-time to meet the requirements of the index; products on the content of magnetic substances more demanding (general requirements of less than 50ppb).
However, the traditional hot air drying and the emerging microwave drying and far infrared drying have their own shortcomings rather than the ideal choice for cobalt tetroxide drying. For example, hot air drying has the disadvantages of high energy consumption (thermal efficiency is only 30%-40%), poor operating environment (large dust), etc, microwave drying has the disadvantages of large equipment investment, uneven material drying and difficult to meet the index requirements, "hot spot" and "thermal runaway" phenomenon in the heating process, and easy damage of components. Far infrared drying has the disadvantages of complex structure and difficult heating, high energy consumption, etc.

Process brief introduction: the wet cobalt tetraoxide material transported from the previous process is continuously and quantitatively added into the energy-saving and environment-friendly disc continuous dryer by the quantitative feeder for drying operation. the material completes the heat and mass transfer process in the flow process to achieve the purpose of drying. After the dry material is cooled in the dryer to reach the packaging temperature (usually at 50 ℃), it is discharged from the discharge port at the bottom into the packaging equipment for packaging, and the tail gas escaping from the material is discharged from the wet discharge port at the top of the dryer after dust removal.
Process characteristics:
Continuous operation, high thermal efficiency. Since the closed disc continuous dryer is dried by conduction heat transfer, air is not allowed in the dryer during the drying process, and its tail gas carrying capacity is very small, so its thermal efficiency can reach more than 85%;
② Less material loss and good operating environment. In the drying of mesophase carbon microspheres in the closed disc continuous dryer, because the materials go in and out, the distribution of the materials is wet and dry, and the flow rate of the drying tail gas is extremely low (about 0.1 m/s), the material dust is difficult to float to the top of the equipment, and is rarely carried away by the tail gas, which not only does not lose the materials, but also does not pollute the environment, thus meeting the requirements of environmental protection;
③ Equipment closed operation, solvent recovery thoroughly. The entire drying and cooling system is closed, and the exhaust gas adopts a specially designed dust collector, which can recover more than 99.9% of the solvent;
The use of special structural design to prevent air from entering the drying system, thus avoiding the occurrence of safety problems such as fire inside the equipment due to the entry of air during the drying process;
⑤ The equipment is highly adjustable, and the material drying is uniform and adjustable. The effect of material drying can be conveniently adjusted by adjusting the speed of equipment, the flow rate of heat transfer oil, the temperature of heat transfer oil, the angle of rake leaves, the amount of material added and the number of drying plates used in the continuous disc dryer;
⑥ Before drying, the wet materials have poor fluidity, and the regular feeder will have the phenomenon of material bridging.
